This upward trend was confirmed in the first few months of 2019, and may be due to the media impact of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) and increased public awareness. Overall, only 11 sanctions were imposed by the CNIL’s Restricted Committee in 2018, including 10 fines.
