In good news for organisations handling personal information, China’s Personal Information Protection Law (“ PIPL ”) was finalised on 20 August 2021, and will come into force on 1 November 2021. Interestingly the provisions of the PIPL around data minimisation appear to be targeted at apps and big data analytics.
