So as to not bury the lead, Facebook has built what it’s calling “ Graph Search ,” a solidly conceived structured-search service which leverages the company’s massive trove of personal data in any number of new ways (some obvious, some nuanced, and some glaring omissions). This is a big deal on many fronts.

The dominant platforms of the US web - Facebook, Google, and increasingly Twitter- all have several things in common, but the one that comes first to my mind is their sophisticated ability to track your declarations of intent and interpret them in ways that execute, in the main, two things.
