Upon graduation everyone was assigned a Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) and sent off to train for it. So I went to Vietnam in December of 1966 as an infantryman and through a mistake in my orders was assigned to the 1 st Marine Division Security Platoon instead of directly to a line company.
