The Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) designation is a benchmark of excellence in information security. The subject matter and exam are developed by (ISC)2, which specializes in training and certifications for cybersecurity professionals. (ISC)2 is one of the world’s largest IT security training organizations, currently more than 140,000 members strong, and growing.

Laurie Mack, Director for Security and Certifications at Thales, is also a member of (ISC)2, holding the CISSP credential, as well as a few other respected certifications.

(ISC)2recently interviewed Laurie to discuss her CISSP certification, her career, and her many other achievements. Laurie’s journey is breathtaking, spanning early years in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), all the way through her civilian professional accomplishments. Among other accolades, while in the military she has received a distinguished award for an innovative and transformative electronic achievement.

After honorably retiring from the CAF, Laurie leveraged her security and national security experience throughout her post-military career. Whether focusing on national and international security challenges, or applying her skills in her day-to-day responsibilities as part of Thales’ Digital Identity and Security (DIS) team, Laurie has used the inspiration gained as a CISSP to progress both personally and professionally. Specifically, the certification has given Laurie more confidence, and knowledge. Her enthusiasm for cybersecurity and the CISSP designation is contagious. Laurie also discusses her current methods for empowering and encouraging her teammates towards higher goals.

Visit the (ISC)2 site to hear a true cybersecurity champion, told in her own words. Prepare to be inspired!
