ARCH, In-Browser Visualization

We are excited to announce the public availability of ARCH (Archives Research Compute Hub), a new research service that helps users analyze digital collections computationally at scale. ARCH represents a combination of the Internet Archive’s experience supporting computational research for more than a decade (providing dataset service integrations like Archive-it Research Services) and a collaboration with the Archives Unleashed project of the University of Waterloo and York University. Development of ARCH was generously supported by the Mellon Foundation. Read more in this post, and try using ARCH on one of your collections.

Archive-It’s Analytics

Google Analytics upgraded to a new version, called Google Analytics 4 (GA4), on July 1, 2023. This effectively ends Archive-It’s integration with Google Analytics going forward. Historical data collected with the prior version of Google Analytics, called Universal Analytics (UA), will remain available as we implement an alternative web analytics feature. For more information, please read this announcement.

Feature Spotlight on Notes

We’re shining the spotlight on the Notes feature in the partner application’s user interface (UI) this quarter. This is an often overlooked feature that can keep your observations and decisions right where the action is happening in the UI. Partners from the Library of Virginia, Harvard Reischauer Institute of Japanese Studies, and Vancouver Island University share how they’ve all used Notes to keep on track in this blog post.
