Disinfectant

“Trump Administration Weighs Publicizing Secret Rates Hospitals and Doctors Negotiate With Insurers,” The Wall Street Journal, March 8, 2019.  What to doctors and hospitals charge insurance companies for the services they provide you?

This would seem to be information that, in a free market, would be public.  After all, you are the responsible party.  And you could compare the cost of a service through your in-network doctor against a doctor outside the network, before you buy the service.

I guess keeping that Information secret (Governance) provides value to someone.  Of course, there’s no price fixing going on.

Transparency, like sunlight, is a great disinfectant. Thank you, Louis Brandeis.
