Business as Usual During a Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Year

2020 was a challenging year for the world. With the unprecedented need for workforces to work remotely, companies around the world were put to the ultimate test to keep the pace of business as usual, with limited disruption—many finding that balance difficult at best.

Channel Partner Insight (CPI), found remote working had left many companies exposed to bad actors, regardless of the size of business. This was especially true across Europe where the consequences of hacked vulnerabilities had become all too clear as 2020 came to a close. CPI turned the challenges of 2020 into a positive way to celebrate vendors and managed service providers (MSP) who excelled to turn 2019 practices into new opportunities and a fresh modus operandi. As part of their European MSP Innovation awards, CPI asked for entrants to demonstrate that they have been able to help partners and customers safeguard their businesses despite the mounting security challenges.

Thales is honored to be recognized for Best Vendor Security Offering for our Data Protection on Demand Platform.

The pandemic shattered the traditional infrastructure and IT environments we all know. As workforces were shifted off premises, the risk of loss of control of central IT and an easing of traditional compliance rules increased, on the part of both the employees and the organization. That being said, an increase in the remote workforce made it vital for companies to implement strong identity and access management, as well as encryption security controls. Therefore Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) are playing an increasingly important role in safeguarding sensitive key materials used to protect important collaboration tools, document sharing and online transactions.

Thales recognized immediately that data protection would quickly become an essential part of our new working environments and a centralized approach to encryption and key management would be vital to ease administration and enable a more comprehensive security policy. We looked to our Data Protection on Demand (DPoD) solution to help MSPs keep pace with their customers’ security requirements, while reducing the need to have employees in data centers and hosting facilities to deliver, rack, and operate equipment.

Because DPoD offers a wide range of Cloud HSM and key management services on demand, our partners are now able to provide their customers high assurance security solutions as-a-service in the cloud. This allows their customers to rapidly step up cybersecurity efforts to protect the rapid deployment of disparate IT systems needed after the onset of the pandemic pushed us to remote locations outside of the safety of the corporate walls.
