Collibra earns Google Cloud Ready – BigQuery Designation

We are thrilled to share the news that Collibra has received Google Cloud Ready – BigQuery Designation. 

It’s an important milestone in our partnership with Google Cloud, and a significant opportunity for data citizens around the world using Collibra.

Better together: Google Cloud and Collibra

Google Cloud Ready – BigQuery is a partner integration validation program. As part of this initiative, Google Cloud engineering teams validated Collibra integrations into BigQuery in a three-phase process that included:

  1. Running a series of data governance, integration tests and compare results against benchmarks
  2. Working closely with Google Cloud to fill any gaps 
  3. Refining documentation for our mutual customers

By earning this designation, Collibra has met a core set of functionality and interoperability requirements when integrating with BigQuery. In other words, our customers can have confidence that the Collibra products they use today work well with BigQuery.  

Integrating Collibra with BigQuery

More and more enterprises are using BigQuery to run data analytics at scale. But if the data isn’t reliable and trusted, it doesn’t matter how many petabytes of data you have.

A migration to Google Cloud is an opportunity for a fresh start. Collibra’s approach to integrating with source systems to identify and profile data en route to the cloud allows you to be intentional about this process and not replicate issues from legacy environments. Furthermore, our certified connectors allow you to maintain data governance and integrity once it has landed within its new environment. 

Collibra’s integration with Google Cloud offers organizations a way to help alleviate these worries by building an internal data marketplace where data consumers and data producers publish and shop for the best quality data. 

Together, Google Cloud and Collibra’s capabilities help customers accelerate their data journey and successfully migrate to the cloud. 

Building a data marketplace

How does Collibra Data Catalog so easily identify data during the data migration process? 

Rather than lift and shift, Collibra Data Catalog ingests metadata to make sense of the source data. This is crucial because it provides insight into what data is available across the organization, including context such as ownership, data policies, and usage. 

The governed ingestion process ensures only the right data is migrated to the cloud. Data Offices can then follow the technical and business lineage from BigQuery to provide more visibility about where data came from and where it’s going in the migration process.

Furthermore, Collibra’s ability to connect to BigQuery via our connectors allows not only for lineage, but the ability to harvest the metadata you need at scale for enterprise governance and cataloging purposes.
