Microsoft and Collibra: New integrations drive trusted data-driven decisions

Product

Microsoft Azure is a comprehensive cloud computing platform that is relied upon by more than 95 percent of the Fortune 500 and millions of companies around the world.

We’re excited to continue to extend our support of the Microsoft ecosystem with our new Azure Data Factory (ADF) and Azure Data Lake Storage integrations, as well as significant enhancements to our Power BI integration. Now, your enterprise can get even more value from your Microsoft data estate with greater visibility, understanding and trust delivered through the Collibra Data Intelligence Cloud.

Deeper visibility and understanding across Azure

Azure Data Factory makes it easy to integrate sources and construct ETL processes in an intuitive, code-free environment. Our latest Azure Data Factory integration enables automated technical lineage that shows the ADF transformation jobs and stitches referenced data objects to existing assets in the Collibra Data Catalog.

With automated lineage generation you can save days of work tracking down information, and provide a complete picture of data flow from source to destination. This also facilitates better collaboration among teams, supports more accurate assessment of impact of data changes, and faster troubleshooting and issue resolution by providing a clear picture of data flows and dependencies across systems.

Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS) provides a cloud-based data lake solution to store massive amounts of data and facilitates analytical workloads. Our new ADLS integration is designed to retrieve, map and ingest metadata from ADLS into the Collibra Data Catalog. Specifically, the integration supports the ingestion of the container, directories and file hierarchy, but can also optionally ingest schema (table and column assets) information for files from Microsoft Purview.

This integration provides greater visibility and understanding of data within ADLS, while also enabling the discovery and governance of ADLS assets in Collibra.

With these integrations together with the Collibra Data Intelligence Cloud, now you can scale your data intelligence initiatives and power them with enriched metadata.

Powering trust with Power BI

Microsoft Power BI enables organizations to optimize reporting, data mining, and data visualization to provide key business insights. We continue to enhance our Power BI integration to provide an improved experience and ensure you can trust the data behind the dashboards, reports, and visualizations.

The Power BI integration is much more user-friendly for business users. They can now search and create views based on the added attributes, and effectively filter out types of reports for their users, quickly find certified reports or interpret DAX calculations. Users are provided more information on the Power BI asset pages which supports trusted business reporting. Overall we’ve provided an easier understanding of manual, time-consuming reporting processes and procedures.

We also added support for the various Databricks connectors in Power BI and are soon adding SAP Hana and Azure Analysis Services to the mix. This will enrich the technical lineage and allows for more sources to be stitched.
