Help to build the 2018 Winter Olympics Web Archive

Act now! Today is the final day to nominate URLs for preservation in the 2018 Winter Olympics collection being built by the International Internet Preservation Consortium (IIPC). Websites, individual articles and reports, and social media are welcome. To learn why and how the IIPC collaborates on web archiving projects like the biennial Olympics and other projects, read our recent interview with the IIPC Content Development Group’s Alex Thurman here on the Archive-It blog.

Join the Internet Archive in testing a new service for people with print disabilities

Is your library a Competent Authority for qualifying users with print disabilities for digital lending services? If so, the Internet Archive invites interested libraries to join in beta testing a new digital lending service for expanding access to books for the the print disabled. See the project description for more details, and a link to a application of interest, in this blog post on the Internet Archive’s website.

 

Save the Date: Archive-It’s Annual Partner Meeting

Internet Archive staff, Archive-It partners, and friends will meet at ARCHIVES*RECORDS 2018, the joint annual meeting of CoSA, NAGARA, and SAA in Washington, DC. This year’s meeting will take place on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 14. The annual partner meeting is an opportunity for web archivists to meet one another and share their goals, projects, ideas, and questions, so we hope to see you there! Watch this space for more program details and opportunities to contribute as the date approaches.

Automated scoping rules for select platforms and social media

The latest update to the Archive-It web application automatically adds scoping rules when seeds from select web publishing and social media platforms are added to your collections. You also have the option to add these rules, which automatically update when recommendations change, to existing seeds.
