Next steps for art libraries and curated web archives

Partners from the Internet Archive and eight art libraries from across the country met earlier this month at the Getty Research Institute to plan next steps for collaborative archiving of web-published art resources. The meeting was the third in a series of national events supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). Attendees reviewed the ideas and challenges raised since their first meeting one year ago, outlined a collaborative program that would enable each of them to collect more scholarly resources from the web, and defined their roles in broadening that program to include colleagues in art libraries around the country and the world.

Lead partners from the Internet Archive and New York Art Resources Consortium (NYARC) will share details about the program and how to get involved via an upcoming webinar. Please register here to join us on Thursday, April 23 at 11AM Pacific, 2PM Eastern to learn more.

A final report will follow, including the lessons learned from the art library community as a structure for working together. Thanks again to IMLS and to all of the 60+ art librarians and technologists who have contributed throughout this effort!
