The possibilities of focusing on student outcomes with 1-to-1 iPad programs in higher education

See how iPad programs can help universities improve student engagement, wellness and career readiness.

Higher education institutions are focused on improving student outcomes. But which strategies are worth investing in? While it may seem like you need a variety of tactics and technologies, one solution offers proven benefits: 1-to-1 iPad programs for students.

1-to-1 iPad programs turn outdated systems of teaching into something that’s vibrant and interactive. Through these programs, educators allow students to access content, information and knowledge in ways that are best adapted to students’ learning styles.

When combined with a keyboard and Apple Pencil, iPads are an even more powerful tool for students to demonstrate their knowledge, no matter what their major – whether creative, technical or academic

Take for instance Maryville University who implemented a 1-to-1 iPad program with Jamf Pro. Since upgrading to iPads, the college not only achieved higher student outcomes, but also cost savings of $590,000 annually by using iPads over desktop computers. Time savings was also a huge win for them. In fact, the switch to iPads reduced IT’s time investment through classroom device management and streamlined app deployment tenfold.

And for their students, technology is no longer a barrier; it’s an essential tool for learning.

Through 1-to-1 iPad programs, higher education institutions can improve:

1 - Student engagement

  • Reach students in a way that is accessible and interesting to them
  • Offer portability to easily move around campus - iPad is at home in the lecture hall as outside or in a dorm room.
  • Streamline learning experiences with Zero Touch deployment
  • IT admins can easily empower students and keep devices safe and compliant

2 – Student wellness

  • Help students find the balance of success and health
  • Apple accessibility features allow students to access content and curriculum no matter what their needs

3 – Career readiness

  • Improve digital acumen, making students more adept with technology prior to starting their career
  • Ensure students are equipped, comfortable and confident with technology used in the modern workforce

As universities continue to search for new and innovative ways to offer the best education experience for their students, consider shifting your higher education institution to 1-to-1 iPad programs.

Expanding options for student usage

With iPads in hand, students are also able to take advantage of Apple presentation tools such as Apple TV. Students can use Ditto to project onto large displays in order to give presentations, collaborate with each other, and receive immediate feedback from faculty. It also allows them to cast content to Apple TV from non-Apple devices without using a dongle or other workaround.
